You can visit the Cave Dwelling all year round, including Sundays and holidays, opening time: 9:30 a.m. till night. The site is equipped with a multilingual-recorded description (Italian, English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese, Russian).

Rates

The entrance fee is € 5.00: Storica Casa Grotta di Vico Solitario, Neviere, Grotta Naturale e Chiesa Rupestre S. Agostino al Casalnuovo.

Reduced-price ticket € 3.00: Groups with licensed guide, members F.A.I./IGIIC, adults 65 years and older, university students.

Reduced-price ticket School classes, boys from 11 to 18 years: € 2,00

Free entrance: Children up to 10 years, guides and tour leaders, people with disabilities, journalists, Matera citizens.

Close to the Cave Dwelling, you can visit a huge excavated area once used as a snow cellar, an amazing natural cave where you will be watching a video documentary about Matera, and a Rupestrian Church dated back to 9th- 11th c. A.D., now a charming site for exhibitions over various periods of the year.

Our professional tour guides will show you around the Sassi, the Rupestrian Churches, the City Centre of Matera. Excursions to the Murgia plateau are organised on request.
